An English woman has given birth to a set of twins; an occurrence which wouldn’t be getting so much attention save for the tiny fact that each of them were born in a different country.
The mother, Donna Keenan, gave birth to
Dylan Joseph at about 10 p.m on July 1 in theliving room of her house in
Wooler, England and was rushed by ambulance to Borders
General Hospital in Melrose, Scotland, whereHannah Rose was born at
about 11.39 p.m.
Keenan, 28, speaking on the delivery of the first
baby at home said she and boyfriend Joe Fox had been home watching
the Euro 2012 final. “I’d only been home for about an hour and a half and my
water broke,” she said.
“My contractions started coming rather quickly.”
“We had to ring a paramedic because we weren’t going to make it to the hospital.”
“We had to ring a paramedic because we weren’t going to make it to the hospital.”
“It was quite scary because we didn’t know what
was going to happen,” she continued. “The next thing I was on the floor and he
was born at 10 o’clock.”
Paramedics however decided there was enough time
to take the mother to the nearest hospital, which happened to be 40 miles
away, across the border in Melrose.
“It felt like the longest journey ever,” she said.
“The hospital is about an hour away from Wooler and they kept saying
to me ‘don’t push!’”
