Find Nkiru Sylvanus Quickly, Group Urges Imo Governor

The Igbo Forum in Nollywood on Tuesday urges Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, to take firm action towards rescuing Nollywood actress, Ms. Nkiru Sylvanus.
The actress was kidnapped on Sunday night after stepping out of a movie location in Owerri, the Imo State capital, by gunmen riding on motorcycles.

The gunmen have since reportedly made contact with some officials of the state government and demanded a N100 million ransom for the release of Sylvanus, who is also the special assistant to the state governor on Lagos Affairs.
The state government on Monday promised a reward for information leading to her whereabouts.
However, the forum’s Chairman, Chief Harris Chuma, said in a statement that the state government ought to take her rescue very seriously.
It also decried the incessant kidnap of South-East figures in the industry.
“We the members of Igbo Forum in Nollywood, a socio-cultural group charged with the responsibility of projecting, protecting and preserving Igbo language and culture; a body concerned with the overall welfare of Ndigbo in Nollywood and the Nigerian entertainment industry at large hereby state that the government of Imo State under the able leadership of Owelle Rochas Okorocha should be more proactive in securing the release of Nkiru Sylvanus, a Nollywood actress, and face of Ndigbo in Nollywood.
“We are not comfortable with the incessant kidnapping of Nollywood stars in South-East Nigeria.
” We urge the security operatives in the region to work harder and arrest this deadly scourge; and better still, bring this illegal trade to an end.
“We implore His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the security operatives in Imo State to quickly unearth the mystery behind the kidnap of Nkiru Sylvanus in Imo State and deploy every means to quickly secure her release.
“Kindly do the needful and save Nkiru Sylvanus.
“No city will survive without entertainment and entertainers. We will not run away from Igboland because of kidnappers.
“We are Igbo and will always come to Igboland to serve the people and put smiles on their faces.
“Government should make the region safe for us.”
