Delta Pays N800m Monthly To Ghost Workers

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan
The Delta State Government, yesterday, raised the alarm that ghost workers were draining its resources and disclosed that no fewer than 23,000 of them have been uncovered in the last four years with N800million paid to them monthly as salary.

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan who confirmed this in Asaba, yesterday, said that the increasing rate of ghost workers in the state has become worrisome.
Meanwhile he said that the state government through the ministry of women affairs had rehabilitated over 1,720 physically challenged people.
While disclosing that 19 orphanages were also rehabilitated, the Governor pointed out that there were few women in key positions especially at the State House of Assembly and added that the Women Affairs Ministry has been faced with challenges that require urgent need for basic attention.
Impeccable sources said that ghost workers spread across all facets of the ministries, departments and agencies where non-indigenes allegedly pay between N500, 000 and N750, 000 to gain employment.
