In 1988 Ivan McGuire was an
experienced diver and was filming a student and instructor doing a
skydive when he left the plane without a parachute.
The video, authorities say, gave no indication on whether the man slipped or jumped on the plane. The chilling video shows his jumping-mates with him for a while.
Later they disappear from the frame as they opened their parachutes and slowed down while the man kept going down at 150 miles per hour. The police ruled out foul play or suicide.
The video shows the man reaching for the parachute cord just as the other divers pulled theirs.
This tragedy goes to show that when you work in risky businesses, even experience can't trump the safety processes.
