A solid gold replica of Lionel Messi's left foot could fetch over $US5 million when it goes on sale this week.
Created by Japanese jewellery company Ginza Tanaka, 'The Golden Foot', a 25 kilogram cast of the 25-year-old's lethal left foot, was produced to commemorate Messi's record-breaking haul of 91 goals scored during 2012.
The cast measures 25 centimetres high, 28 centimetres wide and 16 centimetres deep, is attached to a gold stand which includes Messi's autograph and is displayed on a marble and wood base.
The replica it is limited to a production run of one and is priced at $US5,250,000.
Around 50 golden foot plates of Messi's left is also on sale for an approximate price of $US94,500 per plate, while 100 half-size versions of Messi's foot cast are on sale for $US42,000 each.
Proceeds from the sales will go towards the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March 2011.
