Famous armed robbers’ hunter, Alhaji
Aliyu Mohammad Ahmed, popularly known as Ali Kwara, yesterday said his
team on Sunday engaged the notorious armed robbery group that has been
terrorising the people of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna
State.
Addressing newsmen, he said his men and the anti-robbery squad of the Inspector General of Police attached to him engaged the gang when they were transporting ammunition from Birnin Gwari forest to Plateau State.
“Around 12 midnight last Sunday, we intercepted the Birnin Gwari bandits on their way to Plateau State. They were not going on operation but they were moving their ammunition to Plateau in a gulf car. We engaged them and killed three, two ran away into the forest,” he said.
He said they recovered seven AK-47 rifles and about 1000 cartridges from the gang. According to him, the Birnin Gwari bandits are from Katsina and Zamfara State. “We have handed over the guns and ammunition to the Kaduna State Police Command.
We are working in collaboration with the command to crush the group. Very soon, we will carry out offensive attacks on the gang and I am assuring you it will mark their end,” he said.
He urged the general public to beware of one Shehu who is parading himself as Ali Kwara, describing Shehu as a retired criminal. “He has started returning the money he collected from villagers while impersonating me.
You know he went to villages in Kaduna State and arrested many people who he labelled as armed robbers. After arresting them, he collected money from innocent persons. He is not my brother, I know him as a retired criminal,” he said.
