World number one Serena Williams beat
Carla Suarez Navarro 6-2 6-0 to book a semi-final place at the Italian
Open and extend her career-best winning streak to 22 matches.
Navarro was only able to hold twice in the first set as Williams produced another dominating performance.
The 31-year-old unleashed stream of winners while claiming the second set without dropping a game and the match over in less than an hour.
Williams has dropped only three games in her last two matches and appears in prime form with the French Open only 10 days away.
Victory means the 15-time Grand Slam champion is now on a personal best run - going one win better than the 21 in a row she managed in 2002 and 2003.
Williams will now face Romanian qualifier Simona Halep in the last four after she saved two match points on her way to beating Jelena Jankovic 4-6 6-0 7-5.
